The Shadow of Darkness

In the Shadow of Darkness, you seem to have submitted, with no fight

Even with brightness all around, you are in the middle of a night
Look beside you, there’s the hand that’s ever willing to bring the light
Why the hesitation? Why do you refrain when you know that it’s right?

There’s this strange feeling that creeps up from inside of you
You did all the things you were told to do but not what you wanted to
You betrayed your own trust for something false, with no clue
Why did you succumb to other’s desires and bid your good, adieu?

The angel within, you’ve caged it inside, chained by fallacious fear
The reason for doing this, you never seem to let it out clear
It’s never easy to see you this way; it always brings down the tear
Why did you give in to them and move away from your near and dear?

It’s within you, always was, the valor to fight the demons of obscurity
You have done it before, prove yourself, and face it in all dignity
Overcome the Shadows of darkness, it is your soul’s dire necessity
Waiting to hear your voice in triumph and see you smile in ecstasy
